Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about finding or listing AI services on JustListAI — Greater Vancouver's local AI directory.

The Basics

What is JustListAI?

JustListAI is Greater Vancouver's free local directory for AI practitioners. Whether you're a Richmond restaurant wanting to automate reservations, a Surrey clinic looking for an AI phone agent, or a downtown Vancouver law firm building a client intake chatbot — you can find a local AI specialist here and contact them directly, with no middleman and no commission.

Is it free to list my services?

Yes — completely free. There are no listing fees, no monthly subscriptions, and no commission taken on any work you land through the platform. JustListAI is designed to keep the supply side (AI professionals) at zero cost forever, so the talent pool stays full and accessible.

How does the platform work?

AI professionals post a free profile describing their services, location, pricing, and contact info. Businesses and individuals browse, filter by city or specialty, and reach out directly. There's no platform-mediated messaging — you connect via email, phone, or whatever the provider lists. We review all listings before they go live to keep the quality high.

How long does it take to get listed?

Most profiles are reviewed and published within a few hours. We use AI-assisted moderation to keep the process fast. You'll see your listing status in your account dashboard.

Do you take a commission on jobs I land?

Never. Zero commission, now or in the future. You negotiate directly with the client, invoice them directly, and keep everything you earn. JustListAI makes money differently — through optional paid features for businesses posting jobs, not by taxing freelancers.

For Businesses

My business isn't a tech company. Can I still use this?

Absolutely — and you're exactly who JustListAI is built for. AI tools are no longer just for Silicon Valley startups. A family-owned restaurant can hire an AI specialist to set up an automated reservation system and a menu chatbot. A local dental clinic can have a custom AI phone agent that books appointments 24/7. A clothing boutique can get AI-powered product descriptions and ad copy written at a fraction of the old agency cost. You don't need to understand how AI works — you just need the result.

What kind of businesses use JustListAI?

All kinds. Restaurants and cafés that want to automate ordering or online reservations. Law firms building client intake bots. Real estate agents using AI to write listings and qualify leads. Medical clinics automating appointment reminders. E-commerce stores personalizing product recommendations. Marketing agencies adding AI content production. Retail shops streamlining inventory and supplier communication. Basically: if your business has any repetitive process that involves data, communication, or content — there's an AI fix for it, and someone on JustListAI who can build it.

What can an AI freelancer actually do for a small local business?

More than most people expect. Here are some real examples: A pizza shop owner hires an AI automation specialist to connect their online orders to their kitchen display and inventory system — no more manual entry, fewer mistakes. A yoga studio gets an AI chatbot that answers class schedule questions and books drop-ins automatically, even at 2am. A hair salon uses an AI marketing specialist to produce weekly Instagram content and targeted ads, cutting their social media time from 5 hours a week to 30 minutes. A plumbing company gets an AI-powered follow-up system that sends quotes, reminders, and review requests without the owner lifting a finger. These aren't futuristic projects — they're available today, affordable, and findable right here.

How much does hiring an AI freelancer typically cost?

It varies widely by scope. A simple automation or chatbot setup might be a one-time project in the $300–$1,000 range. A custom AI-integrated website or data analytics system typically runs $2,000–$8,000. Ongoing AI marketing management might be $500–$2,000/month. Because you're hiring freelancers directly — no agency markup — you're usually getting the same quality at 30–60% of the cost. Browse profiles on JustListAI to compare pricing from multiple providers before you reach out.

Can I post a job instead of browsing profiles?

Yes. If you know what you need but don't want to search, post a job or project on our board. Describe what you're looking for, your budget, and your timeline — and AI professionals will reach out to you. Posting is free.

How do I know I'm hiring someone qualified?

JustListAI reviews all listings for relevance and quality — non-AI services and spam are filtered out. That said, we do not independently verify credentials, certifications, or work history. We strongly recommend reviewing each provider's portfolio, asking for references, and starting with a small paid test project before committing to a larger engagement. Think of us like a LinkedIn for AI talent: the profiles are real, but due diligence is still your responsibility.

Finding Local AI Help

Can I find an AI consultant near me in Metro Vancouver?

Yes. Use the area filter on our browse page to find AI practitioners in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Delta, Langley, and Abbotsford. Many also offer remote sessions, so your exact neighbourhood doesn't limit your options.

Why would I want a local AI practitioner instead of someone remote?

AI automation, RAG systems, and agent workflows often need hands-on setup, staff training, and ongoing adjustments. A local practitioner can visit your business, understand your operations in person, and build something that actually fits your workflow — not just a generic solution. For coaching and training, in-person is significantly more effective. JustListAI supports both: filter for local when it matters, or remote when it doesn't.

Which areas are currently covered?

JustListAI currently serves Greater Vancouver: Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Delta, Langley, and Abbotsford.

Can I find an AI practitioner who speaks Chinese or Korean?

Yes — this is one of JustListAI's key features for Metro Vancouver. Many practitioners on the platform are fluent in Mandarin (中文), Cantonese (粤语), or Korean (한국어), in addition to English. Use the language filter on the browse page to find someone you can communicate with comfortably in your preferred language.

What AI Services Are Available

What is AI automation and who needs it?

AI automation means using software to handle tasks that currently require a human to manually do them — things like entering data, sending follow-up emails, routing customer requests, generating reports, or updating spreadsheets. Any business with repetitive back-office work is a candidate. A trucking company that manually logs deliveries, a mortgage broker who sends the same onboarding emails 50 times a week, a property manager tracking maintenance requests in a spreadsheet — all of these can be automated with relatively simple AI tools.

What's the difference between a chatbot and an AI agent?

A chatbot typically handles conversations — answering questions, collecting information, or routing requests within a chat window. An AI agent goes further: it can take actions on your behalf, like booking a calendar appointment, updating a database, sending an email, or placing an order. Both are valuable, and both are findable on JustListAI. A dentist's office might want a chatbot on their website to answer 'do you take my insurance?' questions. A logistics company might want an AI agent that autonomously manages supplier communications and updates their inventory system.

What is AI marketing, and is it better than traditional marketing?

AI marketing uses tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, and specialized ad platforms to produce content, run campaigns, and analyze results faster and cheaper than traditional methods. A skilled AI marketing freelancer can write a month's worth of social media posts in a day, generate product photos without a photoshoot, test 20 ad variations simultaneously, and optimize spend in real time. It's not 'better' or 'worse' — it's dramatically more efficient, which means a small business can now compete with the content output of a much larger company.

Can AI help my business with customer service?

Significantly. An AI customer service setup can handle the 60–80% of inquiries that are routine — order status, FAQs, booking, returns, hours — automatically, 24/7, in multiple languages. This means your human staff only deal with complex or sensitive situations. For businesses with high inquiry volume (e-commerce, healthcare, hospitality, real estate), this can be transformational. You can find specialists who build these systems on JustListAI.

What is AI coaching, and does my team actually need it?

AI coaching is training — teaching you and your staff how to actually use AI tools effectively in your specific job. Most people use ChatGPT at maybe 10% of its potential. A good AI coach teaches your team the prompts, workflows, and integrations that actually save time in your industry. A law firm learns to draft contracts and summarize discovery documents. A real estate team learns to generate listing descriptions and market reports. A restaurant group learns to analyze customer feedback and design menus. It's practical, industry-specific, and the ROI is immediate.

I Don't Know Much About AI

I want to use AI but I don't know where to start. What do I do?

Start by describing your biggest time-wasting task. Is it answering the same customer questions over and over? Writing product descriptions? Chasing invoices? Scheduling appointments? Every one of those has an AI solution. You don't need to understand the technology — you need to find someone who does. Browse JustListAI, find a specialist in your industry, and just tell them what's taking up your time. They'll tell you what's possible and what it costs.

I'm not a tech person. Will I be able to work with an AI specialist?

Yes — and the best AI specialists are good at explaining things in plain language. You don't need to know what a large language model is. You need to know that your front desk staff answers the same 20 questions on the phone every day, and that this is fixable. A good AI freelancer will ask about your business first, explain what they'll build in plain terms, and deliver something you can use without a technical background.

How do I know if AI can actually help my type of business?

If your business has any of the following, AI can help: repetitive communication (emails, messages, calls), manual data entry, content you produce regularly (social media, reports, descriptions), customer inquiries that follow predictable patterns, or processes that involve checking, routing, or scheduling. That covers almost every business. The question isn't whether AI can help — it's which part to fix first.

I've been running my business the same way for 20 years. Why would I change now?

You don't have to change everything — you just need to add one thing that saves time. A business owner who automates their quote follow-up saves 5 hours a week. One who sets up an AI booking system stops losing clients who call after hours. One who uses AI to produce social content gets their time back. None of these require a business overhaul. They're additions that make what you already do more efficient. Start with one problem, solve it, and see what changes.

What's the difference between AI and just regular software?

Regular software follows exact rules: if X then do Y. AI handles situations that don't fit neat rules — it can understand natural language, recognize patterns in messy data, generate original content, and respond to things it wasn't explicitly programmed for. A regular chatbot can only answer questions it was pre-programmed with. An AI chatbot can understand a question it's never seen before and give a reasonable answer. That difference is what makes AI useful for real business problems.

Finding AI Help

Where can I find a reliable AI automation expert in Vancouver?

JustListAI is Greater Vancouver's free local directory of AI automation experts. Browse specialists in workflow automation, n8n, Make, Zapier, and AI agents across Metro Vancouver — filter by area, specialty, language (English, 中文, 粤语, 한국어), or budget. Contact them directly with no commission or middleman.

Which platform should I use to find AI talent in Metro Vancouver?

JustListAI is Vancouver's local AI practitioner directory. Unlike generic freelance platforms, it's focused on Metro Vancouver businesses, supports multilingual practitioners, and charges zero commission — you contact AI professionals directly.

How can a business quickly connect with AI talent?

Browse AI professionals on JustListAI filtered by city, specialty, and budget, then contact them directly via their profile. Alternatively, post a free job listing and let AI professionals reach out to you. Most connections happen within 24–48 hours.

What is the difference between an AI consultant and an AI engineer?

An AI consultant focuses on strategy — identifying where AI can help your business and guiding implementation. An AI engineer builds the technical systems: writing code, integrating APIs, training models. Many professionals on JustListAI do both. If you're not sure which you need, describe your problem and let the professional recommend an approach.

Should I hire an AI freelancer or an AI company?

For most small and mid-sized businesses, an experienced AI freelancer delivers equivalent or better results at 30–60% lower cost than an agency. Freelancers are faster to start, more flexible, and more accountable. AI companies make sense for very large-scale enterprise projects. JustListAI connects you with both individual specialists and small AI consultancies.

For AI Professionals

What types of AI specializations are in demand on the platform?

The highest-demand specializations right now are: workflow automation (n8n, Make, Zapier), RAG system design and implementation, LLM API integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini), AI agent development (LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI), fine-tuning open-source models (Llama, Mistral), vector database implementation (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma), AI-powered web application development, and AI coaching for business teams. Specialists who can communicate complex concepts to non-technical clients are especially valued.

I work with advanced models and infrastructure. Is this platform right for me?

Yes — and you represent the high end of the market that small and mid-sized businesses currently have no access to. A specialist who understands MLOps, fine-tuning, or distributed inference can do things for a business client that general developers cannot. The businesses that need this work don't know how to find people like you through conventional channels. Listing on JustListAI puts you in front of clients who have real budgets and real problems that match your skill level.

I recently left a major tech company. Is independent AI consulting viable?

More viable than most people expect. The implementation gap between what AI can do and what most businesses have done with it is enormous — and it's growing. Engineers and specialists coming out of companies like Meta, Google, Amazon, or Microsoft have production-grade skills that small and mid-sized businesses desperately need and have no access to. The first client usually comes from a direct personal connection or a specific platform listing. The second comes from a referral. The third from your listing being found. It compounds quickly once you start.

Can I list multiple specializations or service tiers on one profile?

Yes. Your profile supports multiple service categories, a free-form bio, and a price range. You can describe different service types (e.g., 'I do both LLM integration projects starting at $2,000 and ongoing AI coaching retainers at $1,500/month') within your bio. If your offerings are very different, some practitioners create two separate listings — one for technical implementation, one for coaching or strategy.

Platform & Safety

How do I update my profile after it's published?

Log into your account, go to My Listings, and click Edit on your profile. Changes go back through a quick review before going live — usually within a few hours. For urgent changes, email us at byip803@gmail.com.

Is JustListAI safe to use?

We take platform safety seriously — all listings go through AI-assisted moderation, and users can report suspicious profiles with one click. That said, we do not verify the identity or credentials of any user. Before sharing sensitive information or making payments, always vet the other party independently: look at their portfolio, search their name online, ask for a reference, and start small. Use common sense: never pay large sums upfront to someone you've never worked with, and never share passwords or sensitive business data before trust is established.

What if I have a bad experience with a provider?

Use the Report button on their profile — our team reviews all reports and will take action (pausing or removing the listing) where warranted. For disputes about work or payment, those are unfortunately between you and the provider — we are a directory, not a managed marketplace, so we have no ability to mediate payments or enforce contracts. This is why we recommend starting with small test projects and using a written agreement or contract for larger engagements.

Is my contact information visible to everyone?

Your contact info is visible to logged-in users, which is necessary for the platform to function — the whole point is direct contact. We show a safety reminder before revealing contact details to encourage responsible use. If you're a provider and prefer some privacy, you can list a business email or a contact form URL instead of a personal number.

Still have questions? Email us — we usually respond within one business day.
